Baithak – Challenging Taboos

Welcome to Baithak - Challenging Taboos, a grassroots organization led by young women, passionately working on feminist movement building on girls’ and women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Pakistan and beyond. We believe that every individual regardless of their gender should have safety, resources, and agency to make informed decisions about their own bodies, and we are committed to breaking down the barriers that hinder this right.

1

Climate and Gender Justice

In a world where Pakistan stands as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries, we champion gender-equitable climate change and climate crisis response. Our mission is to build resilience of grassroots communities, organizations, and stakeholders in gender responsive climate action, advocate for inclusive climate policies that prioritize women's voices and needs, and bridge the gap between those who are most vulnerable to and affected by climate change and policy making spaces.

Menstrual Health Management

Menstruation in Pakistan is considered a taboo topic and is attached to stigma which has led to period poverty and has negatively affected menstrual health management of young girls and women. At Baithak, we are breaking the silence through interactive, reflection, and activity based MHM sessions and addressing the period of poverty by providing menstrual kits that empower individuals to manage their health with dignity. Our interactive approach ensures that participants understand their bodies, from physiological changes to hygiene practices, enabling them to navigate their health confidently and make informed decisions.

SRHR Advocacy & Training

Everyone deserves access to vital information and resources regarding their sexual and reproductive health. Through workshops, campaigns, and collaborative partnerships, we advocate for sexual and reproductive health, educate young people on their SRHR, and amplify the voices of those who have been historically marginalized and excluded from mainstream health systems.

Gender Based Violence Against Women

At the heart of our work is a commitment to ending GBV. We design and implement community-driven programs that challenge the power dynamics and systematic gender inequities contributing to violence against women. Baithak’s initiatives focus on capacity building and advocacy, working with local activists to create safe, inclusive spaces to eliminate all forms of GBV.
