Three-tier Model

Baithak’s Principles

1. Community centered approach: We believe that the communities we work with know best what works for them. Our role is to facilitate processes, offer support, and create spaces for collective action; not to dictate solutions.

2. Rooted in solidarity: Our work is built on solidarity, respect, and mutual support. We stand with the communities we engage with, recognizing their agency, resilience, and expertise. We commit to responding in a competent, credible, and reliable manner to feminists in need of solidarity; whether political, practical, or emotional.

3. Feminist ethics of care: We prioritize care, empathy, and mutual respect in all our interactions. Our feminism is rooted in well-being, mutual support, and collective healing. We value the health, safety, and dignity of our team, our partners, and the communities we engage with.

4. Intersectional and decolonial feminism: Our feminism is intersectional, decolonial, and committed to dismantling all forms of oppression. We challenge power structures that uphold patriarchy, colonialism, capitalism, and other systemic inequalities.

5. Women-led, community-led, youth-led: We center the voices, experiences, and leadership of young people, women and marginalized genders. Decisions are made collectively, ensuring that those most affected are at the forefront of change.

6. Feminist movement building: We reclaim and assert the long and rich tradition of grassroots women’s resistance to patriarchy and oppression. We claim the right to theorize, produce knowledge, strategize, and speak for ourselves—without being spoken for. We actively create spaces for power generation across generations.

7. Fair compensation and recognizing Labor: We reject extractive practices that devalue the time, expertise, and contributions of those at the forefront of feminist struggles. We believe that everyone, especially grassroots activists, community leaders, and partners, should be fairly compensated for their knowledge, labor, and engagement. Our work is rooted in principles of economic justice, ensuring that collaboration is built on mutual respect, equity, and fair remuneration.

8. Accountability and reflexivity: We hold ourselves accountable to the communities we work with. We engage in continuous reflection, learning, and adaptation to ensure our work remains ethical, relevant, and effective. We are open to giving and receiving constructive feedback from other feminists / feminist organizations. We also commit to transparency in our processes, making sure that all stakeholders that we engage with (communities, partners, funders, donors) align with our values.

9. Bodily autonomy and consent: We uphold the right to bodily autonomy and informed consent in all aspects of life. Every individual has the right to make decisions about their own body, life, and future without coercion, violence, or fear.

10. Sustainability and systemic change: Our approach is long-term and sustainable, focusing on systemic change rather than temporary fixes. We are committed to strategies that build lasting, transformative change rather than short-term interventions.

11. Feminist collaboration and mutual support: We actively create opportunities for other feminists to lead, grow, and contribute to collective struggles. Our work is rooted in mutual empowerment, power sharing, shared learning, and the belief that liberation is collective.

12. Respecting the environment: We try our best to resist environmental exploitation in our work. This includes being mindful of waste, avoiding unnecessary use of food and paper, and prioritizing reusable and sustainable options whenever possible. We believe climate justice isn’t just about advocacy – it’s also about everyday choices.
